Stretch marks for most women are as natural and as much a part of life as giving birth. The scars that are left behind can be, for some a bit embarrassing.

Stretch marks occur in the middle layer of the skin, called the dermis, and common creams can’t reach that far deep.  Stretch marks occur because the collagen and elastin that bind your skin are stressed during weight gain, resulting in tears in your skin’s elastic fibres.

In truth, between 75 and 90 percent of all pregnant women (90 percent of white women) develop stretch marks during pregnancy.  Keep skin liberally and effectively moisturized beginning in the first or second trimester and through your recovery to your pre-pregnancy weight, perhaps with one of the many oils and creams marketed especially for stretch mark prevention.

There are several causes of stretch marks, in

cluding: Genetics: Women are more likely to get belly stretch marks if their mother, for instance, had stretch marks after pregnancy.  Stretch marks can affect any area of the body in which the skin is subject to rapid stretching.  Theoretically, any area of the b

ody could be vulnerable to stretch marks if the skin is stretched enough as a result of tissue expansion.  Stretch marks and pregnancy usually go hand in hand – almost three in four women will experience stretch marks after pregnancy.  I put on anti-stretch mark cream for my whole pregnancy, and just like another woman said, I thought I was in the clear.  I used Barmon stretch mark c

ream & Vitamin E lotion the entire time and I didn’t notice any stretch marks until the last 2 weeks of my pregnancy.  It worked well, but I didn’t realize my legs and butt would get the stretch marks instead.  There is no one magical cure for stretch marks. My only hope was continued use of the cream my mother had given me (Barmons). To my surprise and delight the scars on my legs and butt have almost completely vanished.

If you have stretch marks after pregnancy, or if you are suffering from stretch marks for another reason, you can be a candidate for stretch mark removal. What type of treatment you chose is entirely up to you.

Prescription creams containing Tretinoin, also called Retin-A, may help reduce the appearance of fresh stretch marks.  The best cream, of course, is one that’s specialized for stretch marks, as it will help the elasticity o

f your skin. I can’t relay how how absolutely grateful I was to my mother for recommending Barmons.

Also cosmetic laser treatments, such as Coolbeam and blue light therapy can be an effective way of permanently getting rid of stretch marks.

Laser therapy is another option if you’re looking to improve the appearance of stretch marks after delivery. According to the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, a surgeon can use different types of lasers depending on the color of the stretch marks.

A newer type of laser

therapy can be used to stimulate the prod

uction of collagen and help restore the skin’s elasticity in depressed stretch marks.  A good way to get rid of stretch marks is to help repair the collagen and elastin growth in your skin.

I’ve come to discover in retrospect that the best defence is al

ways a good offense. Don’t let yourself fall victim to underestimating the value of deep skin moisturizing. Get your hands on the best cream available and make it a religious habit to apply it more than once a day. You can never start too soon in your pregnancy. I have recommended to more than a few friends that they enlist the help of any eager onlookers. Whether they be younger anxious siblings or the even more elusive man of the house. You just never know it could lead to more than just good moisturizing.

Be sure to get your hands on a good sup

ply of Barmon Stretch Mark Cream. Get it here at the Barmons order page.
